The objectives of the "Listen to the People's Mission" has got many Southern Cameroonians wondering whether the visit of Musonge and the members of the NCPBM to Southern Cameroon was out of good faith....
On Tuesday the 24th of April, 2018, the president of the national commission for the promotion bilingualism and multiculturalism (NCPBM); H.E Peter Mafany Musonge, accompanied by all the members of the commission as well as the secretary general of the commission, embarked on a fact finding mission titled "listen to the people's" mission to the two restive regions of Cameroon i.e. the North West and South West region of Cameroon.Addressing the people during his opening remarks, Peter Mafany Musonge told the people to express themselves without fear of being arrested.
The exercise was held in Buea on Wednesday the 25th of April, 2018 (in the Buea Council Hall, chaired by Peter Mafany in the presence of the governor of the South West region; Okalia Bernard) and in Bamenda on the 31st of May, 2018.
The main objective of the exercise was to collect information of any nature that would enable the Commission to know the state of affairs on the practice of Bilingualism, Multiculturalism, and living together in Cameroon in order to develop a national strategic plan for effective promotion of bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living together in Cameroon.
Summarily, these are the objectives of the mission (with the theme; "listen to the people's" mission)...
- To Give the people of Southern Cameroon an opportunity to freely express their opinions on Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living together.
- Inform the people of the actions the president Biya is taking to maintain national cohesion.
- To raise awareness on the importance of national unity and living together as essential ingredients in making Cameroon not only a country where it is good to live in, but one which is welcoming to tourists and investors.
- Collect information that will enable the commission to ensure the mission of strategic monitoring with a view to regularly inform the head of state, which will enable him to anticipate certain events by solving them before they occur or giving appropriate solution when they do occur and to put in place a sociopolitical trend chart.
The objectives of the "Listen to the People's Mission" has got many Southern Cameroonians wondering whether the visit of Musonge and the members of the NCPBM to Southern Cameroon was out of good faith. The objectives of the Commission has aroused a lot of suspicion.
In my opinion, these are the hidden Agenda Behind Musonge's "Listen to the People's Mission"...
- To know how firm the people of Ambazonia are still holding on to their cause (the Ambazonia dream) after all the killings, arbitrary arrest, unjust trial, looting, and burning of houses in the North West and South West region of Cameroon.
- To identify the hardcore federalist or separatists who aught to be arrested to suppress the struggle hence the reason why the people of Southern Cameroon were asked to freely express their opinions on Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living together without any fear of being arrested (as if he was trying to insinuate that there's no freedom of speech in Southern Cameroon)
- The 4th objective of the mission clearly insinuate that the mission was also a spy mission i.e. the objective of the mission was also to collect information that will enable president Biya to quickly avert any eminent mass protest, like the one staged by Mancho Bibixy which has now given birth to the Anglophone Problem and the subsequent clamor for separation.
- Peter Mafany Musonge embarked on the mission just to create a buzz or a headline to enable president Biya to know that the commission is working (still existing).
